Cesar Chavez Language Academy in Santa Rosa City Schools seeks highly motivated candidates to join our Spanish Dual-Immersion School

 

 

The Position

Santa Rosa City Schools’ Cesar Chavez Language Academy offers families of elementary students a unique educational opportunity. Appropriate candidates are those who are bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural in Spanish and who have knowledge of the Common Core, strong instructional practices, experience infusing technology into instruction, excellent classroom management skills, the ability to work in a collaborative bilingual setting, establishing systems to support student achievement, and be committed to becoming a highly visible and contributing member of our community and school.

 

Primary Function

Under the supervision of the Principal, the classroom teacher develops and implements classroom lessons that both challenge and motivate students. Classroom teachers are responsive, collaborative, communicative, and focus instruction to ensure the success of all students and the goals of the District & School.

 

The District

Santa Rosa City Schools is composed of the Santa Rosa Elementary School District (grades K-6) and the Santa Rosa High School District (grades 7-12).  The combined districts have over 16,000 students and encompass ten elementary schools, five middle schools, five comprehensive high schools, two continuation high schools, four necessary small high school programs, and four charter schools. The district employs a staff of over 1500.

 

The Community

Santa Rosa is the northwestern gateway to the Sonoma and Napa Valleys. The area offers access to farm country, redwood forests and rivers, lakes and the Pacific Ocean. Many wineries and vineyards are nearby, as well as the Russian River resort area, Jack London State Historic Park and the redwood trees of Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve.

 

The city sprawls along Highway 101, an hour north of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. In the center, is a thriving downtown, lined with intriguing shops and restaurants. Named one of the best in California, the Downtown area boasts three distinct shopping districts, historic residential neighborhoods, arts and culture, events, great restaurants, famous chefs, and a comfortable inviting atmosphere.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

· Bachelor’s degree or higher

· California Teaching Credential (Interns welcomed)

· Bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural in Spanish

· Teaching Experience is preferred

 

Licenses/Certifications:

· California Multiple Subject Teaching credential

· BCLAD Certification– Spanish (may start without certification and work towards certification)

· Valid California driver’s license.

·   Bilingual in English / Spanish required
