English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)

The purpose of the English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) is to assist parents in becoming informed about and comfortable with our district’s Master Plan for English Learners.  ELAC meetings are open to the public; all parents are encouraged to attend.  Only ELAC members may vote on voting issues.

ELAC members become familiar with, examine, and comment on the four training topics:

  1. Advice in the development of the School Plan with provisions to support English Language Learners (School Plan for Student Achievement – SPSA)
  2. Elect at least one member as a DELAC representative
  3. Assisting in the development of the Schoolwide Needs Assessment
  4. Importance of parent awareness of school attendance

Working closely with school staff, school organizations, School Site Council, PTA, and other parents, the ELAC members have a rewarding and challenging opportunity:  to participate actively for the benefit of all students and families at the school.  As parents become informed and involved, they are motivated to pursue further partnerships with the school, district, and/or community.
